I wish I could remember you better.
Your glistening honey skin,
the freckles peppering your face,
your bewitching, silly grin.
I wish I could remember you better,
your mellifluous voice;
the dulcet tones of your laughter,
the songs that made you rejoice.
I wish I could remember you better.
The worn-out denim jeans you wore,
the yellow flower you loved the most,
your lovely, inelegant snore.
I wish I could remember you better;
I loved you without regret.
But now I chase the fading notes
of a song my heart has begun to forget.
