#For the Record: The Little Things

Someone recently reminded me to enjoy the little things in life- a reminder I believe many of us are in need of.

It’s easy to get embroiled into the quotidian problems of life: deadlines, traffic, society, expectations, and the constant noise that fills the in-between. Somewhere between trying to rewrite our mistakes in the past and chasing after what’s next, we forget that life exists in small, unremarkable moments.

The hug of someone you love. The surreal feeling of waking up at 5 am to see the sun peek out from behind the clouds. Listening to your favourite song after years and realising it understands you better than a person could.

We’ve been taught to chase milestones – better grades, bigger goals, louder successes – as if happiness has an appointment slot we haven’t booked yet.

So here’s your unsolicited reminder: don’t waste away your life waiting for the big “life-changing” epiphanies, just enjoy the little things around you!

Yours truly
